Education Services
Academy of Hope offers other services to its student in order to help them achieve their educational goals. These are available to all students and include:
Computer training
The Academy's computer course offerings range from basic introductions to computer technology and its uses, to advanced application of Microsoft Word and Excel. These six- to 12-week courses are held in the Academy of Hope's on-site computer lab. Call (202) 269-6623 or click here for more information.
Workplace Literacy Project
This is an Adult Basic Education operated in partnership with Literacy Volunteers and Advocates. Workplace Literacy provides training in classroom settings at learners' work sites. General curriculum content includes reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication, reasoning, problem solving and other skills. A unique feature of the program is that specific learning goals are developed by students and their supervisors in collaboration with project staff. These goals address particular workplace competencies identified as critical to increased productivity and job proficiency. For more information on workplace literacy, contact Annette Banks at (202) 269-6623.
Career Assessment and Planning
Career exploration and planning services available at Academy of Hope incorporate a variety of materials, software programs and hands-on activities to identify career goals and the steps, training and resources needed to obtain those goals.
The Academy also provides a range of student support services to help break down barriers that may stand in the way of a student’s meeting his or her goals.
